Installing the Hive ODBC Driver on Mac Clients

Installing the Hive ODBC driver on your Mac client will allow you to connect to the AtScale engine from desktop BI applications such as Tableau.

About this task

Your BI applications send queries to the AtScale engine using the standard Hive Server 2 ODBC driver. You must install the appropriate version of the Hive ODBC driver on your Mac laptop or desktop computer.

Note the following:

Whether Hadoop or Google BigQuery is your data warehouse, you must use one of the Hive ODBC drivers if your client application is ODBC-compliant.
You can use the Cloudera driver for a supported version of Tableau Desktop.

Procedure

Download and install the appropriate Cloudera driver for Mac.
